PLANNING EXPERIENCE

Raimi + Associates: Senior Associate (2017 - Present) - Lead small area planning work (specific plans, corridor plans, downtown plans), zoning code updates, objective design standards, comprehensive plans, community outreach and facilitation. Recent and ongoing projects include the following:

Pacific Municipal Consultants (Now part of Michael Baker International): Associate Planner (January 2014 - 2017) - Worked across Michael Baker's Planning, Design and Facilitation services. Projects included assisting with community outreach and drafting of downtown plans for the cities of Manhattan Beach and Morro Bay, helping to develop a community vision plan for the City of Old Town Tehachapi, consolidating and updating the Elk Grove Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Trails Master Plan, and drafting zoning code updates for the cities of Napa, Santa Clara, and La Habra.

Project List:​

City of Emervyille: Long-Range Planning Intern (December 2013 - January 2014) - Assisted with long-range planning projects, including the Emeryville-Berkeley-Oakland Transit Study (EBOTS) and Emervyille's Housing Element update. Additional activities included GIS mapping, graphics, research, writing, and data reconciliation.

 

UC Berkeley: Graduate Student Instructor (January 2012 - May 2013) - Taught a discussion section for the undergraduate course “Intro to City Planning” for two semesters (Spring 2012 and Spring 2013). Also served as the lead graduate instructor for an undergraduate urban economics course in Fall 2012.

 

The Trust for Public Land: Graduate Student Researcher (June 2012 - August 2012) - Conducted research on several parks in San Francisco, including analysis of history, area demographics, and existing park conditions. Created a comprehensive report on Buchanan Street Mall, including recommendations and renderings of design options.

 

Greenbelt Alliance: Sustainable Development Intern (April 2010 - May 2011) - Researched and evaluated transit-oriented infill developments around the Bay Area for potential Greenbelt Alliance endorsement. Spoke on behalf of endorsed projects at planning commission and city council meetings. Organized and led outreach events, including urban outings with public officials and residents to educate and advocate for smart growth and affordable housing.

PREVIOUS WORK HISTORY

Accenture (2005-2010): Analyst/Consultant

 

Implementation Lead for CA State Welfare System Client (Nov. 2009 - April 2010): 

  • Project manager for transition to a new automated welfare system for two Northern California counties. 

  • Worked directly with agency staff, providing system training and assistance with site preparation.

  • Responsible for project-wide communications.

 

Business Planning Consultant for Dept. of Homeland Security Client (2008-2009):     

  • Developed high level strategic business objectives and technical requirements for DHS.

  • Worked with DHS experts and technical teams to generate current and future process flows. 

  • Coordinated multiple DHS stakeholder groups and facilitated joint strategy meetings.

  • Authored white papers in response to DHS security policy changes.

 

Functional Web Designer for IRS Client (2006 - 2008): 

  • Successfully designed and launched an automated web-based application which received the 2008 IRS Commissioner’s Award for improving the processing accuracy and timeliness of assigning Employer ID Numbers.

  • Led planning and design meetings with our IRS clients to gather and analyze functional requirements, design web page wire-frames (mock-ups), and resolve usability issues.

  • Was promoted from analyst to consultant level.

 

Program Management Analyst for U.S. Navy Client (2005 - 2006): 

  • Helped lead a project to analyze, reduce, standardize, and deploy a set of software applications. Result: Created a baseline inventory of IT applications leading to a reduction in future IT costs for the Navy.

  • Managed deployment at two of five U.S. Naval commands in D.C.

  • Proved ability to deal with difficult and high-visibility clients. Result: Won follow-up contract.

GRADUATE SCHOOL CLIENT PROJECTS

Plan Preparation Studio - San Francisco Planning Department Client Project: Our team proposed a "Bayfront Greenway" design solution to better connect the neighborhoods of Chinatown and North Beach to the San Francisco waterfront in preparation for the 2013 America’s Cup.

 

Housing & Development Studio - EBALDC Client Project: EBALDC asked us to respond to an RFP from the City of Emeryville for a mixed-use affordable family project at 3706 San Pablo Ave. Our team developed a full report including a market study of the surrounding neighborhoods, an architectural site plan and pro forma financial analysis for the project.

 

Advanced GIS - MTC Client Project: My teammate and I created an online mobile tool for MTC called "Footprint Maker" that allows the public to easily create and upload GIS building footprint data.
