Manhattan Beach has experienced a gradual change in the makeup of its vibrant downtown retail mix over the years. The impetus for this project was born from a number of concerns regarding the changing business mix and character of the downtown. The plan focuses on protecting and enhancing downtown’s economic viability and preserving the charm that attracts residents and visitors alike. In addition to helping draft the plan, I designed and facilitated community engagement activities and developed eye-catching outreach materials that reflect the small-town beach character of the project area, including branding (logo/look and feel), T-shirts, flyers, posters, and workshop activities.
